1868
The origins of the Rossi d'Asiago distillery
Asiago. In a small workshop filled with stills, herbs, and spices, young pharmacist Giovan Battista Rossi prepares a tonic elixir for the holidaymakers, made from calissaia bark: the creation of China Rossi begins. The successes and recognition he received, including the gold medal at the Grand Prix de Paris in 1904, led him to establish the first industrial distillery of the area, in the following years.

The origins of Kranebet
Luigi Rossi’s vision and meticulous research led to the creation of Kranebet, a distillate with a distinctive flavor made from juniper berries from the Asiago Plateau. Kranebet quickly became the emblem of the Rossi d’Asiago distillery. The name comes from the Cimbrian word “Kraneweta” (“bitter grains”), the ancient term for the juniper plant.
1924 - 1992
An Italian heritage brand
The Kranebet brand becomes part of the Italian collective imagination, thanks to advertising campaigns, promotional items, and nationally significant events. A witness and key player in the changes that shaped Italian history and lifestyle, the brand effectively reflects these shifts while staying true to its roots.
1993
The Dal Toso Family
Already expert distillers since the late 19th century, the Dal Toso family acquires the Rossi d’Asiago brand. With a constant focus on quality and innovation, the brand evolves while staying firmly grounded in tradition, with an eye on the future.
The international expansion begins, as Italian liqueurs win over new audiences, admired for their artisanal craftsmanship and the charm of the Mediterranean lifestyle: open, elegant, and cosmopolitan.
2024
Kranebet, the Gin of the Century
In 2024, Kranebet celebrates its 100th anniversary: a historic milestone marked by events, tastings, and cultural and social gatherings. For the occasion, the book “Kranebet, the Gin of the Century” has been published. The artist Moreno Panozzo created the piece “Goccia Secolare” (“Century Drop”) in honor of this centenary.

In addition to the faithful reconstruction of Giovan Battista Rossi’s laboratory, AkademyLab 20/20 offers sensory paths, tastings, and guided discovery moments. It is a place where natural elements, sensations, and artistic inspirations come together to tell the authentic essence of Kranebet and its land of origin.
